What is Monkey Music?

The aim of Monkey Music is to introduce music to very young children in a way they can understand and enjoy.  Based on an innovative and progressive curriculum, Monkey Music provides you and your child with weekly music classes that are entertaining and educational. 

What happens at a Monkey Music class?

Children are grouped in small classes according to their age and accompanied by their carers who are encouraged to join in with the children.

During a class, the fully-trained Monkey Music teachers engage the attention of both children and carers alike using catchy music, percussion instruments, colourful visual props  - and boundless energy!  Over 200 traditional and original songs, musical games and interesting movement ideas are incorporated in the structured, progressive units that make up the unique Monkey Music curriculum.  

Can babies relate to music at such a young age?

Yes!  Just as language skills are developed early in life, so is musical talent.  Regardless of the level of music aptitude with which children are born, they must have formal and informal experiences in music to maintain that level of potential.  Additionally, music plays a valuable part in children's development - research shows that early exposure to singing, listening to and playing music can enhance a whole range of educational skills such as language and numerical skills, fine motor skills and an awareness of space and one another.

Are there classes for different age groups?

Yes, there are structured classes for different ages as follows:-

Rock 'n' roll - from 3 months

Heigh ho - from 12 months

Jiggety jig - 2 + 3 year olds

Ding dong - 3 + 4 year olds

Are all the teachers musically trained?

All Monkey Music teachers complete specific training relating to Monkey Music curriculum.  Additionally, all Monkey Music teachers are CRB checked and approved.

How long is a class?

Each class lasts 30 minutes, the optimum length of time for holding the attention of such young children.

At what age can my child start Monkey Music?

Children can start Monkey Music from a young as 3 months.

Can I try a one-off class?

Yes, you are invited along for a free introductory session before enrolling for the rest of the term.

How much does a class cost?

Cost per class varies on location.

Do I have to pay a term in advance?

After your free introductory session, if you wish to come along to Monkey Music you will be invoiced for the remainder of the term. Thereafter you will pay a term in advance.  Because Monkey Music is curriculum based we cannot offer classes on a 'drop in' basis.  By paying in advance you guarantee your child's place in the class for the whole of the term.

How many children are in a class?

No more than15 at any time.

Do classes just run during term time?

Regular classes run during term time.  Many areas also run workshops during holidays,  to find out about availability of workshops, please contact your local Monkey Music office.
