How it all began
Monkey Music introduces music to very young children in a way they can easily understand and enjoy.
Monkey Music was founded in London in 1993 by Angie Davies, who was inspired to develop the classes for her first newborn baby daughter. As a trained classical musician and experienced teacher, Angie was aware that all babies have an innate love of music and as a keen new mum she looked for local music classes to attend. Finding a lack of classes in the appropriate age group, she decided to write an original music curriculum that was fun and interactive for everyone!
Monkey Music classes are now a weekly ritual for thousands of young children and families across the UK and Ireland. To find your nearest class, please visit our venues page. Monkey Music parties and workshops are also very popular, as well as sessions at nurseries and schools. For more information, click here.

Monkey music classes
Weekly sessions take place during school term time and are led by specially trained Monkey Music teachers. Throughout a 30 minute class, the fully-trained Monkey Music teachers engage the attention of both children and carers alike using catchy music, percussion instruments, colourful visual props - and boundless energy! Over 200 traditional and original songs, musical games and interesting movement ideas are incorporated in the structured, progressive units that make up the unique Monkey Music curriculum.
Children are grouped in small classes according to their age (see below). They progress through the curriculum, developing their musical and social skills as they grow up.

Toddlers love being on the move and making lots of noise. During this second stage of Monkey Music, everyone joins in singing and playing, pointing and waving, clapping and patting, shaking and tapping, dancing, wiggling, jiggling and giggling...all in time to the music!!

Jiggety jig 2+3 year olds
Turning two is a big event at Monkey Music. By now, these not-so-little monkeys have generally developed ways of communicating and moving, and so openly express their sheer enjoyment of the classes. Growing independence gives them confidence to explore more music concepts by using exciting percussion instruments, playing musical games and through singing and moving using a wide repertoire of songs.
